Information for Cost Savings Estimate

Estimated Household Income

Eligibility for subsidies is based on a household's Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI). For most taxpayers, MAGI is the same as Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) which can be found on Line 4 on a Form 1040EZ, Line 21 on a Form 1040A, or Line 37 on a Form 1040. Taxpayers who receive non-taxable Social Security benefits, earn income living abroad, or earn non-exempt interest should add back that income to AGI to calculate MAGI.

 Unemployment compensation help

If you received or will receive unemployment benefits in 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) provides additional financial help. Under ARP, your eligibility for marketplace subsidies will be based on a total annual income of no more than 133% of the federal poverty level (for most states this is around $17,000 - $18,000), instead of your actual annual income in 2021. This means you may be eligible for plans at the lowest available rates.

Who will need coverage?

Life plans are for primary applicant only. Dependents more than 18 years of age can buy Life plans separately.

If you want to add new dependents, please contact your agent or call the number at the top of the page. You can still remove dependents using this option.

Have you used tobacco? (within the last 6 months)

When selecting Relationship To Applicant, dependent parents, stepparents, and parent-in-laws can only be added in California and with Medical coverage. If you change your ZIP code or coverage, we'll remove all dependents and you'll need to re-add them.

If you are seeking to add a dependent parent or stepparent who is eligible for or enrolled in Medicare at the time of this application, the CA Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) can provide health insurance counseling to senior California residents free of charge. You can call HICAP at 1-800-434-0222, or contact your local HICAP county office, for more details.

Check to see if you qualify for financial help (Optional)

Depending on the size of your household and your income, you may qualify for a federal subsidy that will help lower the amount you are responsible for paying for your health plan.

New York and California users:

  1. 1.Select the "Check Subsidy Eligibility" button. You will be redirected to your state's Health Insurance Marketplace, or exchange.
